St Andrew's Church
Dear Friends,
Our Parish is a vibrant community that values hospitality seeking to offer a warm welcome and support to those whom God sends to us. This is especially true for our children who are one of God’s greatest gifts to us all.
The Parish of Nuthurst, civil and ecclesiastical, is over a thousand years old! That being said, our thriving Christian community is blessed with two well “prayed-in” churches. Our ancient parish church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is situated in the picturesque hamlet of Nuthurst a stone’s throw from our school. Fragments of its earlier construction are still evident for you to discover! Our newer and smaller Church of the Good Shepherd offers a gentle quiet space at the heart of Mannings Heath. A number of groups rent the Good Shepherd. If you are interested in finding out more, please, contact Mrs. Hazel Turner at: 01403-269141
Links with our School are very strong. Every Wednesday during term time our school gathers at St. Andrew’s for a service at 3:00 p.m.. During that time we learn to pray together, to worship, to reflect on the things of God and how faith enriches and grounds our ordinary lives. Please know that all parents, guardians and grandparents are welcome to accompany us.
As Parish Priest, I am often in the school. If you wish to ask me about baptism or confirmation preparation, Sunday school and Youth Group, please, don’t hesitate to speak to me. If you would like to talk about other more personal issues, again, I am happy to make myself available to meet with you.
In addition, every Sunday our community gathers to celebrate the Eucharist at:
8:30 a.m. at The Good Shepherd – this is a quiet contemplative service followed by a relaxed breakfast to which all are welcome.
10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s – this is a service enriched by hymns, choir and fellowship.
Because children are an integral part of our Christian family we also hold “Sunday School” sessions at 10:00 a.m. at St Andrew's Church most Sundays. All those who work with our children have been CRB checked in accordance with diocesan and national Church requirements.
Every Thursday during term time between 9-11am there is a Toddler Group where pre-school children, their parents/carers/grandparents can meet at the Church for coffee and playtime.
Details of all services, activities and much local information can be found in our excellent Parish Magazine “Link”. It is delivered free monthly to every home in the Parish.
Should there be any matter you wish to discuss relating to our church, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
